The health books and charts shown to children usually stress the importance of "hot meals"......and many people have been brainwashed into thinking that a "hot meal" is better or even more nutritious than a "cold meal". I have always thought that, in addition to wasting the equivalent of a couple of kilos of fossil fuels in the preparation of "hot" food, much of the nutritional value of the food is lost in the cooking process......this illogical and false attitude makes about as much sense as "don't go out in the rain.....you'll get a cold...or a fever...." and other untruths.... i buy most of my food at Whole Foods....practically all from the cold and uncooked food displays.......some things are tastier hot or cold, some things must be cooked to be edible or to kill harmful bacteria; but, for the most part, raw food rules my diet... I haven't had a cold, flu, or sickness of any kind in several years.......go figure! S...
yesterday was so splendid.....i listened to the chattering of plump yard birds as bunnie played in the bamboo clippings, bernie kraus nature sounds and the fountains splashing......chocolate covered coffee beans, curried dark chocolate bars, a flawless chocolate ganash from the aetherial kitchens of Alon's Bakery set my mind in such a pleasant state of mind.....then visits of friends, culminating in masaman curried shortribs, a fatty pleasure, it's creamy, rich gravy adding sensuousness to nutty, sticky rice with a hint of jasmine and cilantro......accompanied by thai basil rolls, dipped in the extreme of chili oil infused with unidentifiable fragrant essenses and crushed peanuts, a hint of fresh lemon and a touch of sourwood honey and fresh rosemary......then chocolate mousse with raspberries, and candied seville orange peels, dipped in Alessio Tessieri chocolate , cooled in a vapor of pear essence and cleansed from the palate with courvesoir and expresso.......a...
I dreamt, last night, that I was in an incense-smoke filled room....filled with 'burners' with bronze dragons atop them....From childhood 'fairy tails' about fire-breathing dragons, I suppose, these images inundated my dreamscape....Awakening, I left my bed, half-sleeping, and decided to floss my teeth to remove a chunk of black walnut that was wedged in the open space, between a pair of back molars, awaiting a dental implant, and ventured by the light of the moon through a window, falling over a rolled-up oriental rug, stumbling into the harpsichord, from which fell a heavy Chinese censer with a dragon atop its lid.....some kind of synchronicity, happenstance and coincidence conjured abstract considerations of Cosmic forces at play with my imagination....then, turning a lamp 'on'....the room was just a room, with blue, powered incense spilling onto the sound board.....Sneezing from having inhaled some of the blue crystalline powder, I glanced at the carved...
